Why you should use this system
The Pitch Calling System saves time and increases the security of communication
between the pitching coach and catcher (or pitcher).
What the system includes
A system allows different pitch types to be used in varying quantities until 150 slots have been
From these pitch types and counts, a matching coaching sheet and catcher’s sheet are
randomly generated. The catcher’s sheet contains
a grid to help decipher the numbers given by the coach into
pitch types. This grid is designed to fit in a “wrist coach” wrist band commonly
used in football with quarterbacks. The coaching sheet provides a list of pitches
and corresponding numbers to signal to the catcher for the appropriate pitch.

How it works
The pitching coach chooses the pitch and uses one
of the 3-digit numbers listed in the column for that pitch. The coach will then
give the 3-digit number to the catcher using either one hand or by using baseball
signs that would correspond to the numbers. Understanding the 3 digits given
by the coach, the catcher would use the first two digits to determine the column
on the grid, then would use the 3 digit given to count down the number of rows.
Example – Curve Ball
Coach looks up Curve Ball on his sheet and picks 254. Then he signals 254 to the catcher.
The catcher finds the pitch at column 25, row 4 on his wrist coach.
